Sports Coloring Pages

Our sports coloring pages cover more than a dozen games, from basketball and soccer to swimming, gymnastics and skateboarding. Players wear plain uniforms with no team names, so kids can color them in their own school or club colors. Print one before the first practice of the season, for a team party or for a rainy day when the game is called off.

How many players? A quick guide

Kids who are new to a sport often ask how many players are on a team. These are the numbers on the field or court at one time, per side, in the standard version of each game.

  • Basketball: 5
  • Volleyball: 6
  • Ice hockey: 6, including the goalie
  • Baseball and softball: 9 in the field
  • Soccer: 11, including the goalkeeper
  • American football: 11
  • Tennis: 1 in singles, 2 in doubles

Youth leagues often play with fewer so everyone touches the ball more.

Coaches and PE teachers can build a short lesson from these pages. Hand out the equipment collage and have kids match each item to its sport. Or print one player page per child, ask them to color the uniform in team colors and write a goal for the season on the back.

For a team party, print a set of the trophy page. Each player colors one and writes a teammate's name and one thing that teammate did well. It makes a better award than a plastic medal.
