Unicorn legends and tips for unicorn coloring pages
The word unicorn means one horn. Writers in ancient Greece described unicorns as real animals that lived far away in India. In the Middle Ages, traders sold the long spiral tusks of narwhals, a kind of Arctic whale, as unicorn horns, and buyers paid a fortune for them. The unicorn is still the national animal of Scotland and appears on its royal coat of arms.
A white unicorn doesn't mean an empty page. Leave most of the body as bare paper and shade under the belly, neck and legs with pale lavender, blue or pink. For a rainbow mane, color each lock a different shade in rainbow order, or pick three pastels and repeat them. Blend where two colors meet by overlapping them lightly. The horn looks best in yellow or gold with a darker line along each twist. Save glitter gel pens for the horn, hooves and stars, and add them at the very end so they don't smear.
