Teacher Appreciation Week and other moments to say thanks
In the United States, Teacher Appreciation Week is the first full week of May, and National Teacher Day is the Tuesday of that week. World Teachers' Day is October 5. Many families also give a card on the last day of school or before winter break. A note doesn't have to be long. Teachers often say the ones they keep are specific: thank you for teaching me to tie my shoes, or I liked when we hatched chicks.
How to use teacher coloring pages
- Card from one student: color the front, fold, and write one thing you learned this year inside.
- Class book: every student completes an all about my teacher page, and a parent volunteer binds them together.
- Door decoration: cover the classroom door in colored apples, each with a student's name.
- Gift tag: cut out a small apple or pencil and tie it to a plant, a book or a gift card.
- Staff room surprise: leave a few of the grown-up pages and a cup of colored pencils on the lounge table.
Frequently asked questions
Are these teacher coloring pages free?
Yes. Every teacher coloring page here is free to print and download for personal and classroom use.
When is Teacher Appreciation Week?
It's the first full week of May in the United States. National Teacher Day falls on the Tuesday of that week.
What should a child write on a thank you teacher coloring page?
One specific memory works best: a book the class read, a field trip, a time the teacher helped with something hard. Younger kids can dictate a sentence for an adult to write.
Do you have coloring pages for teachers to use themselves?
Yes. Pages marked Detailed include patterned apples, a bookshelf scene and lettered quotes. They make a short break during a planning period or after grading.
