How to make a mandala coloring page

  1. Press New mandala. Every press draws a fresh design. Keep going until one catches your eye.
  2. Pick the symmetry. Choose 6, 8, 12 or 16. That is how many times the pattern repeats around the center.
  3. Set the detail. Simple has a few wide rings with big shapes. Medium adds more rings. Detailed packs in the most rings and the smallest spaces.
  4. Choose the line weight. Bold lines are easy to stay inside. Fine lines leave more room for color in small spaces.
  5. Choose the paper. US Letter or A4.
  6. Print or download. Send the page straight to your printer, or save it as a PDF, a PNG image or an SVG vector file.

Why every mandala comes out symmetrical

This mandala maker does not use AI. A small program draws one shape for each ring, such as a petal, a leaf, a bead or a diamond, and repeats it around the circle by exact rotation. Every repeat is identical, every line closes, and every ring sits precisely on the center. AI image models are good at many things, but they often leave mandalas slightly lopsided. Geometry does not.

It also means the generator runs entirely in your browser. There is no queue and nothing to upload, and you can make as many mandalas as you like.

Who it's for

  • Adults who color to unwind: print a new detailed mandala whenever you want one, instead of working through a book in order
  • Parents: a Simple mandala with Bold lines is a calm activity for younger kids, and older kids can move up a level
  • Teachers: print a class set for quiet time, or use the 6, 8, 12 and 16 settings to show rotational symmetry in a math or art lesson
  • Crafters and designers: the SVG file is a vector, so you can open it in a design program and resize it without the lines going blurry
  • Activity planners: a quiet table activity for libraries, senior centers, waiting rooms and parties

Tips for a mandala you'll enjoy coloring

  • Download before you press New mandala again. Each design is random and there is no undo, so save the ones you like first.
  • Set line weight and paper last. Changing the symmetry or the detail draws a different pattern. Changing the line weight or the paper keeps the pattern you have.
  • Match the detail to your tools. Crayons and broad markers suit Simple. Sharp colored pencils, gel pens and fine-tip markers suit Detailed.
  • Use heavier paper for markers. Cardstock or thick drawing paper stops ink from bleeding through.
  • Pick three to five colors. Give matching shapes in the same ring the same color, and the finished mandala looks balanced.
  • Print two copies. Color one in warm colors and one in cool colors and see how different the same pattern can look.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make my own mandala?

Press New mandala until you see a design you like, choose the symmetry, detail and line weight, and download or print it. You don't need to draw anything, and it takes a few seconds.

Is the mandala generator free?

Yes. It is free, with no account and no limit on how many mandalas you make. Everything is drawn in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to our servers.

Is this an AI mandala generator?

No. The patterns are drawn by a program that follows geometric rules, which is why the symmetry is exact. If you want a themed mandala, such as one made of leaves and butterflies or one shaped like an owl, describe it in the AI Coloring Page Generator instead. That tool uses 3 credits per page.

What do the symmetry numbers mean?

The number is how many times the pattern repeats around the center. A 6-fold mandala repeats six times, like a snowflake. 8 is the classic mandala look, and 12 and 16 repeat the pattern more often around the circle.

Should I download the PDF, PNG or SVG?

Choose PDF for printing: it is sized for US Letter or A4, whichever you picked. Choose PNG if you want a picture to share or to color in a drawing app. Choose SVG if you want a vector file that stays sharp at any size.

Can I print the mandalas for my classroom?

Yes. Print as many as you need for home or classroom use. For anything else, see our Terms of Service.
