How to change a photo into a coloring page
- Upload your picture. JPG and PNG photos from your phone or computer both work.
- Choose a style. Simple gives thick, bold outlines for younger kids. Detailed keeps more texture and background for older kids and adults. Cartoon turns the photo into a fun illustrated look.
- Convert. The AI traces the important shapes, removes shading and color, and cleans up the lines.
- Download and print. Save the coloring page as a PNG or a print-ready PDF in US Letter size.
Which photos work best
The photo-to-coloring-page converter works with almost any picture, but a few things make the lines cleaner:
- One clear subject. A single person, pet or object close to the camera gives the best result.
- Good light. Daylight photos without heavy shadows keep faces and details readable.
- A simple background. Busy backgrounds turn into lots of small shapes. Pick Simple style, or choose "remove background" to keep only the subject.
- Sharp focus. Blurry photos produce soft, broken lines.

Why not just use a filter?
Phone "sketch" filters keep the gray shading of the original photo, which looks muddy when printed and is hard to color. A real coloring page needs clean black outlines and plenty of white space. This tool is built for that: it removes shading and color and keeps the outlines thick enough for crayons and markers.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn a picture into a coloring page?
Upload the photo, choose a line style, and click Convert. In a few seconds you get black-and-white line art that you can download as a PNG or PDF and print at home.
Is the photo to coloring page converter free?
You can try it for free: new accounts get 30 free credits, and each conversion uses 5 credits. More credits are available on the pricing page.
Can I turn a photo of my child or pet into a coloring page?
Yes, that is one of the most popular uses. Close-up photos with a plain background give the cleanest result.
What happens to my photo after I upload it?
Your photo is only used to create your coloring page. The original upload is deleted after processing and is never shown publicly or added to our gallery.
What paper size are the coloring pages?
The PDF is sized for US Letter (8.5 × 11 in). The PNG download is high-resolution, so you can also print it on A4 or other paper: choose "Fit to page" in the print dialog.
Can I make a whole coloring book from my photos?
Yes. Use the Custom Coloring Book tool: upload up to 20 photos and get one print-ready PDF with a cover, for 60 credits per book. Pages you have already converted are waiting in My Pages and can be added to the book for free.
Can I sell coloring pages made from my photos?
You can use pages made from your own photos for personal, classroom and gift projects. For commercial use, see our Terms of Service.
