What happens in November
November is the last full month of fall. Most of the United States sets clocks back one hour on the first Sunday of the month, so evenings get dark early. Veterans Day is November 11 and honors everyone who has served in the US military. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday, and schools usually close for the rest of that week or for a long weekend. Trees in northern states are bare by now, and the first snow often arrives. It's also Native American Heritage Month, a time when many classes learn about the history and living cultures of Native nations.
Use November coloring pages as a gratitude calendar
- Thankful calendar: write one thing you're grateful for in each grid box, from the 1st until Thanksgiving.
- Calendar display: color the title page and add a paper leaf to its border each week.
- Gratitude jar: color the jar page, cut slips of paper and add a note each evening at dinner.
- Veterans Day cards: color the thank-you card and deliver it to a veteran in your family, school or neighborhood.
- Break countdown: color a leaf in the grid each school day until the holiday.
