Stripe facts and tips for tiger coloring pages

No two tigers have the same stripes. The pattern is as individual as a fingerprint, and scientists use it to tell wild tigers apart in photos. The stripes go all the way down: if you shaved a tiger, its skin would be striped too. Each ear has a white spot on the back. Wild tigers live only in Asia, mostly alone, and a tiger's roar can be heard about two miles away. Tigers hunt mostly at night and rely on stealth, creeping close before a short, fast charge.

Color the orange first and the black last. Use a warm orange on the back and sides, fading to pale orange and then white on the belly, chest, inner legs, cheeks and the patches above the eyes. Go over the stripes with a black marker at the end so they stay crisp. Tiger eyes are yellow to amber with round pupils, and the nose is pink. For a white tiger, leave the coat as bare paper, shade lightly with cream or gray, and make the stripes dark brown.
