Pride facts and tips for lion coloring pages
Lions are the only big cats that live in groups. The females in a pride are usually mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts, and they raise the cubs together. Lions are called kings of the jungle, but they live on open grasslands and savanna, not in jungles. A lion's tail ends in a dark tuft of hair, which no other cat has. Cubs start to join the hunt when they are about a year old.
The coat of a lion is a sandy, golden tan, paler on the belly and the insides of the legs. Manes vary a lot, from blond to rust to nearly black, and many are lighter around the face and darker toward the chest. Color the mane in long strokes that fan out from the face, using two or three shades so it looks thick. The tail tuft and the backs of the ears are dark brown. Eyes are amber. A yellow ochre pencil is the most useful single color for this page.
