Picnic Coloring Pages
Spread out the blanket and open the basket. Our free picnic coloring pages show sandwiches cut in triangles, a pitcher of lemonade, watermelon wedges, a line of ants heading for the crumbs and families relaxing in the park. They're a sweet match for spring and summer units on food, a stuffed-animal picnic at preschool or an actual picnic where kids finish eating long before the adults do.

Planning a real picnic
A picnic is just a meal eaten outdoors, and it doesn't need much: a blanket, food that travels well and something to drink. Pick dishes you can eat with your hands. Keep cold food in a cooler with ice packs, since food that needs a fridge shouldn't sit out for more than two hours, or one hour on a very hot day. Bring a bag for trash and take everything home. If the weather turns, move the blanket to the living room floor. Kids rarely mind.
Ways to use picnic coloring pages
- Menu planning: let kids color the foods they'd like to bring and build the shopping list from it.
- Stuffed-animal picnic: color placemats for each toy guest, then serve snacks on a blanket.
- Pack-the-basket game: cut out food drawings and sort them into will keep and needs the cooler.
- Counting ants: count the ants on the page, then add more of your own.
- Picnic invitation: color a basket page and write the date, time and park on the back.
- At the picnic: clip pages to a clipboard so the breeze doesn't carry them off.
