But school and family calendars have a holiday nearly every month, so you'll also find a guide below to every holiday collection on the site.

Winter holidays at a glance

Christmas is on December 25 and celebrates the birth of Jesus. Hanukkah is the Jewish festival of lights. It lasts eight nights, and one more candle is lit each night on the menorah, using a ninth helper candle. Its dates follow the Hebrew calendar, so it starts anywhere from late November to late December. Kwanzaa runs from December 26 to January 1 and celebrates African American family, community and culture. One candle on the kinara is lit each day: three red, three green and one black in the center. New Year's Eve closes the month on December 31.

  • Summer: Father's Day and the 4th of July
  • Fall: Halloween and Thanksgiving

Teachers with mixed classrooms often choose the no-holiday winter pages, or offer a few from each tradition and let students pick.

Do you have holiday coloring pages that aren't about Christmas?

Yes. There are Hanukkah and Kwanzaa pages here, plus snowflakes, candles and evergreen designs that don't belong to any one holiday. They suit classrooms and offices where people celebrate different things.

How many candles should I color on the menorah and the kinara?

A Hanukkah menorah holds nine candles: eight for the nights and one helper candle, usually set higher or in the middle. A Kwanzaa kinara holds seven: three red on the left, one black in the center and three green on the right.
