Heart Coloring Pages
A heart is one of the first shapes kids learn to draw, and these free heart coloring pages give them dozens to fill. Start with one big outline, move on to rows of small hearts, then try hearts with wings, crowns and flower vines. The patterned and mandala hearts are popular with teens and adults who want something calm to color.

About the heart shape, and the real heart
The heart symbol doesn't look much like the organ in your chest. A real human heart is about the size of your fist and sits slightly left of center. It has four chambers and beats around 100,000 times a day to push blood through the body. The familiar symbol with two rounded tops and a point has stood for love in European art since the Middle Ages. Today it shows up on greeting cards, playing cards and text messages. Red and pink are its usual colors, though any color works on paper.
Things to make with heart coloring pages
- Fold-and-cut hearts: fold paper in half, draw half a heart on the fold and cut. A printed outline is a handy guide for the curve.
- Heart garland: color, cut out and staple hearts to a ribbon for a doorway or mantel.
- Thank-you hearts: write a short note in the middle and give it to a teacher, bus driver or friend.
- Color by feeling: pick a color for how you feel today and fill one small heart each day for a month.
- Stained-glass hearts: color with markers on tracing paper and tape the heart to a window so light shines through.
Frequently asked questions
Are these heart coloring pages free?
Yes. Every heart coloring page here is free to print and download for personal and classroom use.
How do I color a heart so it looks 3D?
Decide where the light is coming from, usually the top left. Leave a small white highlight there, color the rest evenly, then press harder along the opposite edge to make a shadow.
Can I use a heart page as a template?
Yes. The simple outline pages work well for tracing and cutting. Print one on card stock, cut it out and trace around it on felt, fabric or colored paper.
Do you have coloring pages of hearts and flowers together?
Yes. Several pages wrap roses, daisies or leafy vines around a heart, and there are more blooms on our flower coloring pages.
