Dress Coloring Pages
Dress coloring pages are a quiet way to play designer. This set has ball gowns with wide skirts, sundresses, party dresses with ruffles, a wedding dress with a long train and plain dress outlines with nothing on them at all. Some are shown on a hanger or a dress form, and some are being worn. Add the colors, then the patterns, then the shoes.

- Sundresses: light and sleeveless, with thin straps.
- Party dresses: knee length, with ruffles, bows or tiers.
- Wedding dresses: white, with a veil and a train that trails behind.
- Vintage dresses: a 1950s dress with a full circle skirt and a 1920s dress with a dropped waist and fringe.
- Design-your-own: a blank outline with no trim, ready for your ideas.
How to color fabric, folds and patterns
A dress is cloth hanging from the body, and the folds are what make it look real.
Folds. Skirts fall in long, soft folds that start at the waist. Each fold has a raised part that catches the light and a dip that sits in shadow. Color the whole skirt in your main shade, then go over the dips again, pressing harder. Leave the raised parts light.
Fabric types. You can suggest different cloth with the same pencil:
- Satin and silk: strong contrast, with bright white streaks along the folds.
- Cotton: soft, even color with gentle shadows and no shine.
- Velvet: deep, dark color that's lighter only at the very edges.
- Tulle and lace: color lightly so the paper shows through, and outline the edges.
- Sequins: tiny dots in two shades, with a few left white.
Patterns. Draw the pattern before you shade. Stripes and plaids should bend with the folds. Florals look best when the flowers vary in size and some run off the edge of the skirt.
Color schemes. One color in three shades always works. So does a neutral dress with one bright sash.
Frequently asked questions
Are these dress coloring pages free?
Yes. All dress coloring pages are free to download and print for personal and classroom use.
Do you have a blank dress coloring page to design my own?
Yes. The design-your-own sheet shows a plain dress from the front, with no pattern or trim. Draw the neckline, sleeves, ruffles and print you want. Print several and build a whole collection.
Are there wedding and formal dress coloring pages?
Yes. You'll find a wedding dress with a veil and a train, an evening gown with beading and lace, and a ball gown filled with patterns. They're marked Detailed.
Which dress coloring sheet is easiest for young kids?
The simple A-line dress on a hanger and the sundress. Both are one big shape with a couple of details, so there's plenty of room for scribbled patterns and stickers.
