Number Coloring Pages 1 to 10
Learning to count starts with seeing a number and the amount it stands for on the same page. These number coloring pages do that for 1 through 10: a big outline numeral next to the same number of things to count and color. Begin with a number 1 coloring page and one sun, and work up to ten stars. A zero page, a chart and a 100th day sheet round out the set.

Teaching with number coloring pages
A child who can recite "one, two, three" doesn't always know that 3 means three things. Teachers call that link one-to-one correspondence, and these pages are built to practice it.
Touch and count. Before coloring, have the child touch each object once and say a number. The last number said is how many there are.
Color the amount. On the count and color scenes, ask for a specific number: "Color four frogs green and leave one white." That's early addition, since 4 and 1 make 5.
Trace the numeral. Follow the outline with a finger from the top down, then with a crayon. Starting at the top is a habit that helps prevent backward 3s and 7s later.
Use the ten frame. Coloring six boxes in a ten frame shows that 6 is one full row of five and one more. It also shows that four boxes are left, so 6 and 4 make 10.
One number a day. In the first weeks of preschool or kindergarten, many teachers introduce a single number each day and send the page home.
By the end of kindergarten, children in most US schools are expected to count to 100 by ones and tens and to write the numbers from 0 to 20. The pages for 1 to 10 are the first step. The 100th day sheet celebrates a milestone that usually lands in late January or February.
