Monster Truck Coloring Pages

Giant tires and a lot of mud: these free monster truck coloring pages have both. Print a truck rolling over a row of old cars, one flying off a dirt ramp, or a simple side view with tires taller than the cab. The trucks are our own designs with flames, lightning bolts and stripes, so there's plenty of room for your own paint job.

What's in these monster truck coloring pages

  • Side-view trucks: one truck, four huge tires and a clear body shape. The easiest place to start.
  • Car crushers: a truck climbing over a line of flattened junk cars, the classic monster truck stunt.
  • Jumps: trucks launched off a dirt ramp with all four wheels off the ground.
  • Wheelies: the front tires point at the sky while the truck balances on its rear axle.
  • Mud runs: trucks plowing through a mud pit with splashes flying off the tires.
  • Arena scenes: dirt hills, ramps and a crowd in the stands, with lots of small spaces to fill.
  • Monster buses: a school bus body dropped onto the same giant chassis.

How a monster truck works

A competition monster truck stands more than 10 feet tall and weighs roughly 12,000 pounds, about twice as much as a full-size pickup. Its tires are about 66 inches high. That's five and a half feet, taller than a lot of the people watching.

The body you see is a light fiberglass shell bolted over a frame of steel tubes, which is why a truck can roll over and often keep driving. Each wheel hangs on long shock absorbers that soak up the landings. The driver sits in the middle of the cab, strapped in with a harness and a helmet, and can steer the rear wheels separately from the front ones to make very tight turns.

The first monster trucks were ordinary pickups that their owners lifted and fitted with bigger and bigger tires in the late 1970s.

Coloring tip: the tires are the biggest shapes on the page. Use dark gray for them, not solid black, so the tread lines still show. Save black for the shadow under the truck.

Frequently asked questions

Are these monster truck coloring pages free?

Yes. All monster truck coloring pages are free to download and print for personal and classroom use.

Do you have an easy monster truck coloring sheet?

Yes. Pages marked Easy show one truck from the side with thick outlines and no background. They work well for preschoolers and for anyone coloring with chunky crayons.

What colors are monster trucks?

Any color you like. Real trucks are painted to stand out from across an arena, so bright green, orange, purple and flame patterns are all common. Mud is the one thing every truck ends up wearing. Add brown splatters to the tires and the lower body.

Can I use monster truck pictures to color at a birthday party?

Yes. Print a stack of different trucks, set out crayons and let each guest design a paint job and name their truck. The finished pages can go home as party favors.
