House Coloring Pages
A house coloring page starts with a square and a triangle, and it can end up anywhere. This set has cozy cottages with smoke curling from the chimney, farmhouses with a long porch, tall narrow townhouses, log cabins, treehouses and a cutaway house that shows every room. Color the home you live in, or design the one you'd build.

House coloring page styles
- Simple houses: a door, two windows, a roof and a chimney. The first house most of us learn to draw.
- Cottages: small, with a steep roof, flower boxes and a garden path.
- Farmhouses: two stories, a covered porch and a barn nearby.
- Townhouses: narrow homes that share side walls with the neighbors, lined up along a street.
- Log cabins: walls of stacked logs with notched corners, and a stone chimney.
- Treehouses: a platform in the branches with a rope ladder.
- Victorian houses: towers, bay windows and lacy wooden trim, often painted in three or four colors.
- Cutaway houses: the front wall removed so you can see the rooms and the furniture.
Parts of a house and how to color them
Knowing the names of the parts makes a house easier to color, and easier to talk about when you're done.
- Gable: the triangle of wall under a sloped roof.
- Dormer: a small window that sticks up out of the roof with a little roof of its own.
- Eaves: the edges of the roof that hang past the walls and keep rain off them.
- Shutters: the panels on each side of a window.
- Porch: a covered area at the front door.
A few choices make the page look finished. Keep the roof darker than the walls so the house feels solid. Pick one accent color and use it on the front door and the shutters. Color the windows pale blue for daytime, or warm yellow if you want the lights on at dusk. Shingles, bricks and siding look best when you vary the pressure a little, so no two rows are exactly the same. Then give the house somewhere to stand: a strip of grass, a path to the door and a tree on one side.
Frequently asked questions
Are these house coloring pages free?
Yes. All house coloring pages are free to download and print for personal and classroom use.
Do you have an easy house coloring sheet for preschoolers?
Yes. The Easy pages use basic shapes: a square house, a triangle roof and a rectangle door. They double as a shapes lesson. Ask your child to point to each shape before coloring it.
Are there detailed house coloring pages for adults?
Yes. The Detailed pages include a Victorian house with patterned trim, a hillside village and a cutaway home with furniture in every room. They suit fine markers and colored pencils.
Can I color a page that looks like my own house?
Pick the house closest in shape to yours and match the colors of the walls, the roof and the front door. If nothing fits, upload a photo of your home to our photo to coloring page tool and print your real house as line art.
