Pizza Coloring Pages

These pizza coloring pages come by the slice or by the pie. Color a single slice with a long string of cheese, a whole pizza cut into eight, a chef tossing dough in the air or a brick oven with a fire glowing at the back. Some pizzas arrive plain, with only sauce and cheese, so you can draw on the toppings you'd order.

  • Single slices: a triangle with a puffy crust and a few toppings.
  • Whole pizzas: seen from above and cut into six or eight slices.
  • Build-your-own: a plain pizza plus a sheet of toppings to draw, or to cut out and glue on.
  • Toppings: pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, peppers, onions, pineapple and basil.
  • Chefs and ovens: dough spinning in the air, and a pizza sliding into the oven on a long paddle called a peel.
  • Cute pizza: slices with faces and rosy cheeks.
  • Fraction pizzas: cut into halves, quarters and eighths, with space to label each part.

How to color a pizza, layer by layer

Color a pizza in the order a cook builds it.

  1. Crust. Pale yellow first, then golden tan, then a few darker brown spots where the oven would blister it. The rim is the darkest part.
  2. Sauce. A thin ring of red shows between the crust and the cheese. Use a slightly orange red.
  3. Cheese. Melted mozzarella is creamy white to pale yellow, with small golden-brown patches. Don't color it solid yellow. Leave some paper showing.
  4. Toppings. Pepperoni is dark red with a darker edge. Mushrooms are tan and cream. Black olives are rings with a hole. Peppers are green, basil is a darker green and pineapple is bright yellow.

A little history fits on the back of the page. Flatbreads with toppings are ancient, but pizza as we know it, with tomato and cheese, comes from Naples in southern Italy. The classic margherita uses three toppings whose colors match the Italian flag: red tomato, white mozzarella and green basil.

Pizza is also the friendliest way to see fractions. Color half of an eight-slice pizza with one topping and half with another, and you've shown that four eighths make one half.
