Jesus Coloring Pages

These Jesus coloring sheets follow his life as the Gospels tell it, from the manger in Bethlehem to the empty tomb. Children can color Jesus welcoming the little ones, calming a storm, feeding a crowd with five loaves and two fish, and riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. Each page lists the passage it comes from, so it's ready for a Sunday school lesson or family devotions.

Using Jesus coloring sheets through the church year

Many churches follow a calendar that walks through the life of Jesus each year, and the pages line up with it.

  • Advent and Christmas: the Nativity, the shepherds and the star.
  • Epiphany, January 6: the visit of the wise men, followed by the baptism in the Jordan.
  • Lent, the forty days before Easter: the teaching and miracle pages, one a week.
  • Palm Sunday: Jesus riding a donkey while the crowd waves branches.
  • Holy Week: the Last Supper on Thursday and the crosses on Friday.
  • Easter: the empty tomb with the stone rolled away.

For Sunday school. Tell the story first, then let children color while you ask what they notice. Who is in the boat? How many loaves are in the basket? Write the reference on the board so older children can find it.

For young children. The Easy pages show Jesus with one or two figures and little background. The manger, the Good Shepherd and the blessing of the children are gentle places to start.

At home. Color one page after reading the matching story from a children's Bible. Keep the pages in order in a folder, and by Easter a child has a picture life of Jesus.

The four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, are the source for every scene here. Where a story appears in more than one of them, we list a single reference to keep things simple.
